Brighter Futures receives Jersey Living Wage Accreditation
Brighter Futures – Brighter Futures is a local charity dedicated to supporting parents, families, and young people in Jersey. We provide coordinator support alongside a range of free programmes and services to help the parents and carers we meet. Established over 17 years ago, Brighter Futures is highly respected by the community and our professional partners. We have grown from supporting just six families at our inception to assisting over 4,000 families and benefiting 15,000 islanders to date.
Jersey Living Wage Campaign – Caritas Jersey has been licensed by the Living Wage Foundation in the UK to manage and co-ordinate the promotion of a ‘Living Wage’ in Jersey. The Living Wage campaign is one of Caritas’ four main projects; the others being the Social Inclusion Project, Prisoners' Families Support Scheme & Homelessness Project. The purpose of encouraging employers to sign up as Living Wage employers is to play a part in eradicating poverty in Jersey.
The Living Wage takes into account the cost of living, taxes and the value of benefits available to working people on low incomes. Its aim is to make sure that, on average, a worker receiving the Living Wage rate, topped up by in-work benefits, earn enough to be able to live with dignity and to thrive, not just survive within our Jersey community. The Living Wage rate for 2025 is £14.13 per hour.
Fiona Brennan, Chief Executive Officer said:
“Securing Living Wage accreditation represents an important milestone for Brighter Futures because it affirms our longstanding commitment to valuing the people who deliver our services. Our work is grounded in respect, dignity and stability, and it is only right that these principles apply equally to our own team. Paying the Living Wage is not simply a financial decision; it is a statement about the kind of organisation we choose to be. It ensures that our employees can meet the real cost of living in Jersey and reflects our belief that people should be able to build secure and confident lives through work. Accreditation gives formal recognition to these values and confirms a standard that reinforces our charity’s integrity and its positive role within Jersey.”
